Dr. Lino Santacruz Moctezuma

Born in 1966 in Mexico City. BA in Communication (Ibero-American University, Mexico City), master’s degrees in Mass Communication (University of Leicester, UK) and Diplomatic Studies (IMRED, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico), and a Ph.D. in Mass Communication (University of Leicester, UK).

Professor of Communication at the bachelor’s and master’s levels, coordinator at master’s level at the Ibero-American University. Professor and guest lecturer for International Communication at other academic institutions in Mexico. Author of the book “Comunicación Satelital y Desarrollo” (1993), co-author of several books and specialized publications. Translated communication and marketing books into Spanish. Has subtitled dozens of English and German-language television programs into Spanish.

Solid background and professional experience in various areas of the Sistema de Información Logística, Televisa Group, eventually becoming General Operations Coordinator. Worked in advertising for the Mexican satellite company Telecomunicaciones de México and on a fiber optic telephone project as part of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico.

Served as a career diplomat and member of the Mexican Foreign Service until 2012. From 1994 to 2009, worked in telecommunications and culture for the Mexican Foreign Ministry, and was Deputy Consul at the Consulate General of Mexico in Frankfurt, Germany. Worked in human rights, culture, foreign policy and press at the Mexican Embassy in Bonn and Berlin. Head of the Press Department at the Consulate General of Mexico in Chicago, Illinois, United States.

Started working in Berlin as a freelance consultant media manager in 2009. Main focus has been on his work as international media consultant at the Autostadt, a communications platform for the Volkswagen Group in Wolfsburg. Dr. Santacruz also works as a translator, broadcaster and producer for Spanish services of the Deutsche Welle broadcasting company. Santacruz International Communication is the direct result of this new career chapter.

Dr. Santacruz is a member of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), the German Association of Journalists (DJV), and is Honorary President of the Association of Berlin-Accredited Press Attachés.
